Every element was meticulously crafted using show reference, VFX assets &amp; 3D environment scans.  Framestore engineered a bespoke physical set that housed the equipment needed to deliver a truly immersive experience: moving floors, heat, icy wind, all within a seamless scenic design.       <image:caption>Delve into Newt Scamander’s magical world through an immersive virtual reality experience. Fans become wizards and witches, able to grab their wand, interact with and care for all of the Fantastic Beasts in Newt’s magical suitcase. To launch Google’s Daydream VR platform, Warner Brothers approached Framestore as long-time trusted partners to develop a high fidelity VR experience for the nascent mobile platform, that would also excite the troves of fans about this new story within the Wizarding World. Working closely alongside the film’s VFX team, the VR team was able to design a compelling interactive experience that leveraged the highest fidelity assets.       <image:caption>To promote National Geographic’s new show, One Strange Rock, the immersive team was tasked with creating an immersive experience that amplified the core idea of the show: astronauts and their view of the Earth.  To do this, we gave participants the opportunity suit up and partake in their own personal space experience. Framestore created VFX and footage for the main show, and we sought to select appropriate elements to tell a story which would be compelling within a headset-based experience. We also filmed interviews with several of the astronauts appearing in the show to feature throughout and narrate the experience. Creating a custom distortion map allowed us to display the content at the correct scale within helmet’s curved projection screen. The activation picked up a host of awards at 2018’s Cannes Lions Festival, in several categories surrounding innovative use of technology.</image:caption>

Hot off the Kickstarter presses, the experience utilized the original Oculus Rift DK1 headsets, allowing fans the ability to ascend the famous 700-foot ice wall at Castle Black.  A physical elevator and 4D effects like wind and rumbling were designed and implemented to complement the timing of the virtual experience, creating an unparalleled, sensory experience that perfectly blended the virtual and physical. After the initial launch at SXSW, “Ascend the Wall” went on to tour across the globe to the masses of GOT fans for several years. The experience was a first-of-its-kind, pushing the boundaries of both marketing and themed entertainment experiences. The result exemplified a new method of storytelling, and demonstrated to the industry how a narrative experience could be delivered in a new and unprecedented way.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Beats by Dre is a brand built around leveraging in-the-moment social conversations.  As creating instant, engaging media with a suite of 3D characters can be a challenge, they inspired us to build a system that could be used for quick content generation for social media, events and beyond, leveraging their beloved “Pill” characters. This was one of our earliest inspirations to begin adopting engine technology at Framestore.  Leveraging Unity, we built a realtime puppeteering system that would allow full live control of the five Pill characters, to aid in delivering near-instantaneous relevant social content.  Using game controllers and microphones- we put the control in the hands of the creatives (or comedians!) - to organically drive the characters animation and vocal performance.   This system was not only used by the team at Framestore to generate content across a variety of live events, but was also eventually licensed and installed within the worldwide Beats offices to generate a host of international content using these characters over the course of several years.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>To complement a hilariously weird TV campaign to promote Old Spice’s new hair products, in which a man’s hair leaves his head with a mind of its own, we created a humorous web experience to further extend the campaign into the digital world. Our task: create a fully-embeddable multi-browser site that gave users the opportunity to type in their favorite Huey Lewis and the News song, and then watch the hair play away. Production involved a live action shoot, with a very talented pianist wearing a green sleeve and a wig fixed to his hand, playing 29 different Huey Lewis songs, generating over 10 minutes of unique content for arm removal and CGI post work. The web build posed the challenge of creating a smooth segue between segments to give the appearance of a seamless on-demand video.  The solution involved creating multiple video players where we could toggle visibility to create seamless “cuts” between the intro, loop, prompts and songs - so when one player is playing the loop the other player would load the video and swap when ready; and an AWS server with over 500 video clip versions.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>“You’re Going to Die in there” is an immersive website developed to drive fan interest and buzz ahead of the launch of the American Horror Story series.   The website allowed visitors to experience some of the history behind the infamous AHS house, exploring some of the grisly scenes that happened over six decades in each of the various rooms of the house.  Imagery to create the house was created from a mix of show reference photography, as well as a photography shoot to orchestrate and capture each of the period-specific murder scenes.  In addition to a strategic paid media campaign driving traffic to the site, we also created a series of physical and digital artifacts from the house that were sent to key influencers to drive further conversation and buzz around the show.</image:caption>
